State reporting of special education doesn't have to be so hard! Learn more about how Tech-Eze, Inc can help support you in reporting special education data. We contract with SELPAs and LEAs throughout California to provide both virtual and in-person support.
Special education state reporting requirements change regularly. We are here every step of the way to review the documentation for new reporting processes, help determine best practices based on statewide guidance, and then document those best practices so they can be followed in the future.
We provide direct support to districts, LEAs, and SELPAs to ensure that the data being submitted to CALPADS reflects what is actually happening in the classroom. Each data point reflects an individual student, and we want to help districts report the data for their individual students as accurately as possible.
District staff who work with special education data have the opportunity to attend regular meetings with other local LEAs to prepare for upcoming reporting, review best practices, and work together to improve procedures for reporting data. Meetings include handouts such as manuals or explainer guides, and staff have continued access to all materials from past meetings.
We train new LEA staff who are taking on the special education reporting role to ensure that they know their responsibilities and build their capacity so they are able to become the subject matter experts in their LEA. We provide continued support for all contracted districts with all questions around special education reporting.
We provide direct support to LEA directors through attendance at regular SELPA-level meetings, to ensure that leadership teams have the high-level information they need to guide priorities, keep abreast of upcoming reporting requirements, and stay up-to-date on legal changes in California state reporting.
We can support your LEA or SELPA every step of the way in the California statewide monitoring process. Before certifying your CALPADS data, we review the statewide indicators to let you know where your district measures up. After you receive your Annual Determination Letter, we can review your data to pinpoint specific areas where you can focus your efforts to improve your reported numbers. If your district is in Targeted or Intensive Monitoring, we can help find ways to address your student data throughout the process.
Our team has the experience to understand the different scenarios school staff may face and know how to help untangle complicated situations until they can be reported cleanly. We use this experience to create guides to help data teams face similar scenarios with confidence in the future.
Our documentation adds value to existing systems by clarifying the processes already in place, understanding new processes as they are introduced, and helping staff navigate changes without running into the roadblocks lying in wait to those who are not prepared.
We love to untangle the different ways that errors can be introduced into the data, to help clear existing errors and help staff avoid them in the future. Our error correction guides help staff think through the processes taking place behind the scenes in SEIS and CALPADS. Understanding the error codes will enable staff to clear existing errors and learn how to audit their data to avoid creating the same errors in the future

After starting her career as a programmer and systems analyst, she spent eighteen years as an Information Technology Director before opening her own company, Tech-Eze, Inc, which specializes in consulting for districts and SELPAs for State Data Reporting and IEP Information Management. In 2013 she was delighted to join the wonderful team of SEIS contract trainers at Codestack, and she still strives to add an element of fun every day. Although semi-retired from direct support, Kim is still involved in every facet of the business.
